Healy PassI hiked up Healy Creek, over Healy Pass to Egypt Lake, and camped there 3 nights. It's a steady 15km climb up to Healy pass and down to the Egypt lake campground. It a beautiful area right in the middle of the Rockies with mountains all around - close to the great dividing line. |

Egypt Lake CampgroundCanadian campgrounds are well thought-out - mandatory pre-booking keeps the numbers down and tent sites are located in the trees with no direct view of any other tent site. Food storage and cooking areas are 300-400m away from the tent sites to reduce bear risks. My last night at Egypt Lake (the last Tuesday before Labour Day
weekend) was the first snow of the season although it melted one day
later. |

Shadow Lake HikeUsing Egypt lake as a base, I made a day hike over Whistling Pass, down to Haiduk lake then Shadow lake (28km return from Egypt lake - so it's a long day - probably better to backpack all the way to Shadow Lake and stay overnight then go on to Twin lakes.) Whistling Pass and the Marmots |
